Frequently asked questions
Questions people ask before sending their first group card
Everything below is answered the way we would answer it over email. If your question is not here, write to support and a person will reply.
Getting started
What is Because of You?
Because of You is a group card everyone can sign online. You start a card for one person, share a link, and friends, family or colleagues add messages, photos and video. The recipient opens a cinematic reveal set to music, and the card stays in their fan club afterwards.
What is a fan club?
A fan club is the page built around one person. Every card sent to them lives there, so the messages collect over the years into a record of what people have said about them. You can create a fan club for anyone: a parent, a teacher, a colleague, a friend.
How do I make a group card?
Pick an occasion and a design from the cards page, enter the name of the person it is for, and share the link you are given. When everyone has signed, send the card. The whole setup takes about two minutes.
Which occasions can I make a card for?
Birthdays, farewells, sympathy, thank-yous, retirements, get-well, new babies, anniversaries, graduations, welcomes, appreciation, congratulations, work anniversaries, Boss's Day and cards for no reason at all. If the occasion is not listed, choose a custom one and name it yourself.
Signing the card
Do people need an account to sign the card?
No. Anyone with the link can add a message from a phone or laptop without signing up. Only the organizer has an account.
How many people can sign one card?
There is no limit. A card works for a family of five or a company of five hundred; the reveal simply plays for longer.
What can each person add?
A written message, photos, a short video clip or a freehand drawing. Each piece of media plays inside the reveal and the recipient can open it full screen.
Who sees the messages before the card is sent?
The organizer sees every message as it arrives and can preview the full card. The recipient sees them all together when the card is opened.
Can I set a deadline for signing?
Yes. Set the date the card should be ready by so people know when to sign. You can still send the card earlier or later than that date.
Sending and the reveal
How does the recipient receive the card?
They get a link by email or text at the time you choose. Opening it starts the reveal: an animated envelope, the song you picked and every message arriving one at a time.
Can I schedule the delivery?
Yes. Choose a date and time and the card arrives then. That is useful for birthdays, last days at work and anniversaries when you want it to land first thing.
Can I preview the card before it is sent?
Yes. The organizer can watch the full reveal, exactly as the recipient will see it, before sending.
What happens to the card after it is opened?
It stays in the recipient's fan club, where they can return to it whenever they like. Messages that arrive late are added to it rather than lost.
Can I send a card to more than one person?
A card is for one recipient, which is what makes it personal. For a couple or a team, create the fan club in their shared name and the card addresses both of them.
Pricing and plans
Is it free?
Yes. Creating a group card, inviting unlimited people to sign it, adding photos and video, and sending the reveal are free. Paid extras are optional: a printed card mailed to the recipient, a premium card for a single occasion, or a family plan for people who run several fan clubs.
What does the printed card include?
The design you chose online, printed as a real card, with your greeting written inside and mailed to the recipient. It is priced per card and the price is shown at checkout before you confirm.
What is the difference between a premium card and the family plan?
A premium card is a one-time upgrade for one card: premium designs, text-message reminders for signers and an automatic reveal by text. The family plan is a subscription that removes the limit on fan clubs, allows more than one active card at a time and includes those premium features on every card.
How do I cancel the family plan?
From the billing page in your studio. Subscriptions are handled by Stripe, and cancelling takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
Privacy and accounts
Who can see the card?
The people you share the link with, the organizer and, once it is sent, the recipient. Fan clubs are private by default; the organizer can choose to make one unlisted or public.
What do you do with the recipient's email or phone number?
It is used to deliver the card and any reminders the organizer sets up, and nothing else. See the privacy policy for the full detail.
Can messages be edited or removed?
Yes. The organizer can remove any message from the card, before or after it is sent. If you signed a card and want your message changed, ask the organizer or write to support.
How do I contact support?
Email support@becauseofyou.ai. A person reads every message and replies.
Still have a question?
Email support@becauseofyou.ai and a person will reply. Or start a card and see for yourself; it is free.
